Meet Hana Mäkinen
Hana Mäkinen is a Professional Animal Communicator and End-of-Life Grief Specialist with a background in psychology, grief training, trauma biology, and attachment. She offers compassionate support to people navigating their pets' illnesses, diagnoses, aging, and end-of-life journeys.
Hana trained with Carol Gurney of the Gurney Institute of Animal Communication and completed the Grief Educator Certification with David Kessler. She has studied trauma biology with Dr. Aimie Apigian, completing advanced modules in grief, attachment, letting go, and healing. Hana is also IFS-informed and has completed the first year of training to become a Somatic Experiencing practitioner.
She has a RACE-approved webinar for the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care (IAAHPC), focusing on Inviting a Deeper Human-Animal Bond During the End-of-Life Journey. Hana also teaches her signature workshop, Embracing Deeper Connections, two to three times a year, guiding pet parents through the emotional landscape of anticipatory grief and helping them deepen their bond with their animals during the end-of-life journey and beyond.
